TULSA, Okla. ? The South Dakota State men's tennis team came up on the short end of a 4-0 match on Friday at a Summit League cluster in Tulsa, Okla.
As per Summit League rules, the first team to reach four points wins the match; so the two matches in progress at No. 4 and No. 6 singles did not finish. In the event of a tie in singles, teams play the usual three doubles matches to break the tie.
Justin Pyle won his first set at No. 4 singles, lost the second set and was playing in the third set when the Mastodons reached four points, thus ending the match.
The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 5-10 in dual matches, 0-1 in league play, heading into Saturday's match at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa with Centenary, which starts at 9 a.m.
