FARGO, N.D. - The South Dakota State volleyball team dropped its third straight match on Saturday with a 3-0 Summit League loss to North Dakota State, the preseason favorite to win the league, at the Doublewood Inn Classic in Fargo. N.D.
The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 4-6 overall, 1-2 in league play, while the Bison improve to 6-5 overall and 3-0 in league play by the set scores of 25-211, 25-20 and 25-18.
Bailey Philippot led the Jackrabbit offense nine kills, Shay Birath led the defense with 23 digs and Thyele Rechatiko led the Jacks with 24 set assists.
Saturday's match marked the debut of Amanda Stout, a freshman from Pierre, Stout tallied three digs in two sets.
Brynn Joki led the Bison attack with 16 kills and added 11 digs for the match's only double-double. Brooke VandenBergh added 14 kills in the win.
The Jacks forced a total of six tie scores in the match, but never lead in any of the three sets.
SDSU returns to action again on Saturday when the Jacks wrap-up the weekend against South Dakota at 7:30 p.m.
