ORLANDO, FLA. - A sweep of St. Joseph's highlighted the midway point of the South Dakota State tennis team's yearly trip to Florida with the men winning 4-3 and the women's winning 5-2.
The men swept the singles matches from #2-5 with all coming in straight sets.
#2 Jamie Dash and #4 Chris Baron each won by the count of 6-4, 7-5, #2 Carl Lundberg was victorious 6-0, 6-2 and #5 James Thorp prevailed 6-4, 6-4.
Thorp and Lundberg teamed at #3 doubles and defeated their opponents 8-4 to help improve the men's season record to 5-3.
The women were just as dominate in singles play taking care of the the Hawks #3-6 singles players.
#3 Bryna Nasenbeny was successful over Maggie Mullaney 6-4, 6-2, while #4 Natalia Medina won 6-2, 6-2.
#5 Megan McDougall also won by identical scores of 6-3, 6-3 and #6 Bethany Goeden rounded out the quartet with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
The Jacks also swept all three doubles contests to move to 2-5 on the season.
The men take on Southern New Hampshire tomorrow night, while the women have a day off before returning to action on Saturday vs. Florida A&M.
