ORLANDO, FLA. - The South Dakota State tennis teams ended their week long stay in Florida vs. Bucknell with a 5-2 loss for the men and a 6-1 defeat for the women.
The two points for the men came in singles play with Carl Lundberg fighting back from a 6-3 loss in the first set of the #3 match to take the new two 6-2 and 10-6.
At #6, Dominic Rossetto also had a first set loss (6-2) before coming back to win 6-4, 10-8.
James Thorp and Lundberg defeated their #3 doubles opponents 8-5 and Justin Pyle and Chris Baron nearly earned the double point for SDSU, but fell 9-8.
The lone point for the women came from #3 singles as Bryna Nasenbeny downed Elena Vidrascu 6-2, 3-6, 10-6.
Bethany Goeden came close at #6 winning the first set 6-2, before dropping the next two by scores of 1-6 and 7-10.
The men (7-4) start Summit League competition next weekend as they go to Kansas City to play a Saturday match vs. UMKC and a Sunday showdown vs. Oral Roberts.
The women (3-7) are back at it on March 31 vs. Oakland in Kansas City.
