DENVER, COLO. — No. 40 Denver dispatched the South Dakota State men's tennis team, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Stapleton Tennis Pavilion.
"We came ready to play today, and the boys have nothing to hang their heads about," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "We knew it was going to be a tough match, and Denver didn't give us an inch. The good news is we now know exactly what to expect come tournament time and we have three weeks to get ready."
With the win, the Pioneers improved to 13-7 (4-0 SL). The Jackrabbits fell to 10-8 (1-2 SL) with the loss.
South Dakota State came closest to pulling off a victory at third and sixth singles. At third singles, Parker Lawley tested Alex Gasson but ultimately fell, 6-4, 6-3. Gary Notkin fell to Jesse Ruder-Hook by the same score at sixth singles.
The Jackrabbits return to action tomorrow when they take on Metro State at 10 a.m.
