BROOKINGS, S.D.—The South Dakota State women's basketball team concludes its three-game homestand Saturday when it hosts Western Illinois at 2 p.m. in the friendly confines of Frost Arena.
- SDSU sits tied atop the latest Summit League standings with records of 15-4 overall and 5-1 in league play. It is ranks eighth in the latest College Insider Mid-Major poll.
- Summit League All-League candidate Kerri Young led four Jackrabbits in double digits with 16 points in a thrilling 68-66 double-overtime win vs. IUPUI Thursday.
- Western Illinois improved to 11-8 overall and 4-2 in Summit League play after a 94-82 comeback win at North Dakota State Thursday.
- The Fighting Leathernecks have won three of their last five games. They won at Fort Wayne (78-74) and vs. Oral Roberts (72-61) while losing to IUPUI (68-60) and at Omaha (79-66) during the stretch.
- Saturday's game marks the 18th meeting between South Dakota State and Western Illinois. SDSU leads the series 16-1 after winning both regular-season games last year.
Noteworthy
- Of its eight Summit League opponents in the last eight years, SDSU has two losses to South Dakota and one each to Denver, Fort Wayne and Western Illinois. The most losses have been to Oral Roberts (6), including four on the road, since 2007-08.
- SDSU is 8-2 at home this season with its losses coming at the hands of No. 3 Notre Dame Nov. 21 and South Dakota Jan. 17.
