The top-ranked South Dakota State women's basketball team takes on second-ranked Green Bay in a CollegeInsider Top 25 Mid-Major matchup Friday at 7 p.m. in the friendly confines of Frost Arena.

SDSU improved to 7-1 with an 83-72 win Tuesday at North Dakota. Macy Miller and Madison Guebert scored 26 and 25 points, respectively. Miller was 9 of 18 from the field while Guebert sank 6 of 12 from long range.

Green Bay, who is receiving votes in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls, improved to 7-1 with a 78-63 win at Marquette Tuesday.

Friday's game is the fifth meeting between the Jackrabbits and Phoenix. UWGB leads the series 3-1.

Noteworthy

The Jackrabbits are protecting a nine-game home winning streak, 22nd-longest in the NCAA. The last time the Jacks lost in Frost Arena was Jan. 17, 2016, to South Dakota, 63-58.
SDSU is 70-8 (.897) overall in home games, including 27-6 (.818) in home nonleague games, in the last five years.
State has won 404 of its last 500 home encounters, good for a remarkable .808 winning percentage.
SDSU's starting five—Macy Miller, Madison Guebert, Kerri Young, Ellie Thompson and Clarissa Ober—all average double digits in scoring and four are shooting 50 percent-or-higher from the field.
South Dakota State was ranked first in Graham Hays' espnW mid-major poll Nov. 22.
For the fourth consecutive week, the Jackrabbits are atop the CollegeInsider Mid-Major Poll.
SDSU and Green Bay are one-two in the CollegeInsider Mid-Major Poll.
Both the Jackrabbits (56.6) and Phoenix (52.5) hold opponents to less than 57 points per game.
17th-year head coach Aaron Johnston will take his first crack at winning his 400th career game Friday.
SDSU ranks 24th in field goal percentage and sixth in 3-point defense in the latest NCAA rankings.

Poll Positions

SDSU dropped out of the Associated Press poll Monday. In Tuesday's USA Today Sports Coaches poll, the Jackrabbits received 22 votes.
The Jackrabbits received 5 votes in the AP preseason poll and 28 in the preseason Coaches poll.
The last time the Jacks were ranked in either preseason poll was Nov. 9, 2009.
The Jackrabbits' votes are the first since the Jackrabbits received votes in the Jan. 11, 2016, AP poll and April 6, 2016, Coaches polls.
The highest SDSU has ever been ranked is 16th in the AP poll March 9, 2009, and 14th in the Coaches poll March 2, 2009.

Jackrabbits in Mid-Major Poll

South Dakota State was ranked first in the CollegeInsider Mid-Major poll for the fourth consecutive week after earning the top spot in the preseason poll.
SDSU has been ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25 Poll 86 of the last 87 weeks.
With its 26 first-place votes in the preseason poll, SDSU is the first team in The Summit League history to earn a top national preseason ranking.
The Jackrabbits were ranked first in the final 2015-16 poll, their highest-ever ranking.

A Quick Glance at South Dakota State

Seventeenth-year head coach Aaron Johnston's probable starters for the second consecutive year are:

            Macy Miller, point guard
            Madison Guebert, guard
            Kerri Young, guard
            Ellie Thompson, forward
            Clarissa Ober, forward

The starting lineup is 7-1 this season and 34-8 overall. Of the eight losses, half were against ranked opponents.
The starting lineup is shooting 51.6 percent from the field, 43.2 percent from 3-point range and 73.2 percent from the free-throw line.
Miller is SDSU's leading scorer and ranks fourth in The Summit League, averaging 14.9 points per game.
Guebert (14.5), Thompson (11.8), Young (10.6) and Ober (10.3) are the other Jacks averaging double digits in scoring.
SDSU averages 75.2 points per game. Four different Jackrabbits have led the team in scoring this season.
State has held six of its eight opponents to less than 65 points, including four to less than 50.
There have been at least three Jackrabbits scoring in double digits in six of the eight games.
On the boards, Ober grabs a team-leading 8.3 caroms an outing and ranks third in the league. SDSU is outrebounding opponents by 5.9.
The Jackrabbits' top 3-point threat is Guebert, who is sinking 3.75 treys per game and shooting 51.7 percent.
Young is the Jacks' top playmaker, dishing 3.6 assists per game.
Five Jackrabbits are dishing two-or-more assists a game and the team has a plus-1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
The Jackrabbits are shooting 47.3 percent from the field, 36.9 percent from 3-point range and 67.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Green Bay

Green Bay is 7-1 on the season and riding a five-game winning streak after defeating Marquette, 78-63, on the road Tuesday.
The Phoenix's lone loss was at then-No. 1 Notre Dame, 71-67, in the Preseason WNIT.
Green Bay has three players averaging double digits in scoring. Senior guard Mehryn Kraker leads the team, averaging 17 points per game while junior guard Allie LeClaire and junior guard Jessica Lindstrom are scoring 13.5 and 12.5 points per game, respectively.
Lindstrom averages a team-leading 10.9 rebounds an outing. Green Bay is outrebounding opponents by 7.5 caroms a game.
LeClaire is the Phoenix's top 3-point threat, sinking 47.1 percent of her threes (16-34). Green Bay averages 6.4 treys per game.
Kracker is dishing 4.3 assists per game.
The Phoenix have eight players averaging 3.0-or-more points and nine averaging 10-or-more minutes per game.
Green Bay is shooting 47.4 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from 3-point range and 72.2 percent from the free-throw line.
The Phoenix are outscoring by 15.6 points per game and averaging 68.1 points an outing while giving up just 52.5 points per game.

Green Bay Series

Friday's game marks the fifth meeting between South Dakota State and Green Bay.
The Phoenix lead in the series, 3-1, after defeating the Jackrabbits, 58-57, in Green Bay Dec. 19, 2015.
SDSU's lone win in the series was at Green Bay in 2013. Mariah Clarin registered a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds to lead three Jackrabbits in double figures in scoring.
Green Bay won the first contest Jan. 18, 2005, 86-52, also in Green Bay. Five Green Bay players scored in double figures, led by Nicole Soulis' game-high 19 points. SDSU's Sarita DeBoer had a team-best 12 points. The Phoenix shot 65.4 percent from the field, including 62.5 percent from three-point range.
The Jackrabbits are 15-6 vs. teams from the Horizon League and are 12-10 against teams from the Badger State.

SDSU/UWGB Connections

Former Jackrabbit Megan Vogel is one of Green Bay's assistant coaches.
Vogel graduated from South Dakota State in May 2007 after starting all 120 of the Jackrabbits' contests during her standout four-year career. She finished second all-time on the program's scoring list with 1,850 points.
Additionally, she notched 194 career 3-pointers and 783 career rebounds, good for the third- and fifth-best marks, respectively, in program history.
During her time with the SDSU program, Vogel was an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American with a 3.8 cumulative GPA and a top 30 finalist for the 2007 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
