PINE BLUFF, Ark.—Playing in windy conditions, the South Dakota State men's tennis team won its second match of the season with a 6-1 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
With the win, the Jackrabbits improve to 2-4 and the Golden Lions fall to 0-6.
"We were a little flat today and I think playing outdoors for the first time in some tough wind conditions took us some tome to get used to," sixth-year head coach Michael Engdahl said. "Overall, it was a good match and something for us to build on. I think we will have a bit more spunk tomorrow when we face Murray State."
Senior Lovro Curcija improved to 3-0 at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Sijid Rahman. Also picking up singles wins were senior Henrique Pereira, senior Mateus Moreira, junior Lucas Pereira and sophomore Marco Paulo Castro.
In doubles, Henrique Pereira and Moreira won their second match of the season, defeating Hanif Fudael and Edward Butler at No. 3.
The Jackrabbits return to action Saturday when they face Murray State at 5 p.m.
