SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—The South Dakota State women's tennis team won its second match of the day Friday with a 7-0 win over William Jewell at the Huether Family Match Pointe.
With the win, Jackrabbits improve to 5-5 while the Cardinals fall to 4-3.
“The support we received tonight was incredible. Match Pointe and the SDSU Foundation did a phenomenal job getting people out to the match and it meant the world to us,” sixth-year head coach Michael Engdahl. “Tennis-wise, the team did a great job staying focused and playing solid tennis. This evening was a great day for Jackrabbits tennis as we look forward to a lot of tennis over spring break.”
SDSU won the doubles point with victories in all three matches. Senior Tacy Haws-Lay and freshman Morgan Brower won their seventh consecutive match with a 6-2 win at No. 3.
Seniors Ffion Davies, Florencia Magni and Beatriz Souza, along with Brower, all won their second matches of the day while junior Iasmin Rosa and Haws-Lay picked up victories.
The Jackrabbits return to action March 8 vs. Florida A&M in Orlando.
