BROOKINGS, S.D.—South Dakota State women's basketball coach Aaron Johnston announced Friday that Chynna Stevens will return to the Jackrabbit program.
"We are excited to welcome Chynna back to the Jackrabbit family. We know Chynna as a gifted student-athlete and a tremendous teammate," Johnston said. "We are very pleased to have her at SDSU where she can finish her eligibility and complete her degree in her home state with her family and friends nearby."
Stevens, who sat out the 2015-16 season at the University of San Diego, started 22 of 26 games for the Jackrabbits in 2014-15. She finished fifth in scoring (7.3 ppg) and second in rebounding (5.7 rpg) while shooting 37.7 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from three-point range and 75.7 percent from the free throw line.
The 6-foot forward from Clark, scored in double digits in eight games and had three double-doubles. She recorded her second collegiate double-double at then-No. 25 Arkansas with a season-high 17 points and 10 rebounds performance, including the game-tying 3-pointer as time expired.
Stevens will sit out the 2016-17 season in accordance with the NCAA transfer rules before stepping on the court as a senior in 2017-18.
