Senior Iasmin Rosa and sophomore Morgan Brower captured runner up status in Red Doubles at the inaugural Huskie Invite hosted by Northern Illinois at the West Tennis Courts this weekend.

The duo went 4-2 overall after defeating NIU, 6-0, UW-Milwaukee, 6-1, Lewis University, 6-4 and teammates Emilly Van Dijk and Maria Velazco, 6-3. Their two losses came in rounds five and six.

Rosa posted a 3-1 mark in Red Singles en route to sixth place after losing, 2-6, 2-6 to NIU. The Brazil native defeated Lewis, NIU and UWM. Newcomer Molly Crum placed eighth after defeating NIU, 6-4, 1-6, 6-0 and eventually playing for seventh place against UWM but falling, 3-6, 2-6.

Freshman Laura Romero captured a 2-2 record to place fourth in Black Singles after dropping Lewis, 6-0, 6-0 and UWM, 6-4, 6-4.

The women's tennis team will play in the Gopher Invitation Sept. 22-25 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
