OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - South Dakota State's
Annie Williams named Women's Premier Soccer League Player of the Week for the North Conference (Central Region) on Thursday afternoon.

The Jackrabbit senior scored one of the two goals for her team, Fire SC 98 (Minneapolis, Minn.), in the season-opening weekend draw against the Milwaukee Torrent in Seafoam Stadium at Concordia University.

The upper-90 laser helped her team take a lead 2-1 in the second half before Milwaukee scored again.

The Cottage Grove, Minn. native, played 82 minutes in the match on Saturday after playing a full 90-minute match on Friday, helping her first-year expansion team take 3-1 victory over the Dakota Fusion last week.
In the match against the Dakota Fusion, she narrowly missed the net with a distant free kick.

In her first season - first two matches - in the WPSL, she was one of seven athletes who gathered the weekly accolade.

As a Jack, Williams has scored three career goals, all coming from the 2017 campaign, and averaged 82 minutes over the 19 matches last season.

Her team will resume competition on Friday, June 8 when they take on Chicago City SC at DePaul University Wish Field at 4 p.m. and rematch Milwaukee Torrent on Sunday, June 10 in Wauwatosa, Wis. at 5 p.m.
