SIOUX FALLS— Announced by the Summit League on Tuesday,
Joseph Minor-Williams was named Male Cross Country Athlete of the Week after his performance Saturday at the Under Armour Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
The junior from Minneapolis turned in a time of 24:32.8 to finish 63rd in the field of 265 runners, leading the Jacks to a 21st-place team finish in a deep 38-team field made up of nationally ranked opponents including BYU, Colorado, Washington, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Indiana, Iona, Eastern Kentucky, Arkansas, Virginia Tech and Florida State.
This is the second weekly honor for Minor-Williams and his second this season.
With their finish on Saturday, the Jackrabbits jumped two spots from No. 11 to No. 9 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Midwest regional rankings.
The Jacks return on Nov. 2 in Fargo, N.D. for The Summit League Cross Country Championships presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare.
