COLUMBIA, MO. — South Dakota State's Cody Larson earned a top-100 finish among the best distance runners in the country at the NCAA Cross Country Championships Saturday morning.
HEAD COACH ROD DEAHVEN
"Cody had a pretty solid race today. I think him getting buried a bit in the start probably hampered his ability to finish a bit higher than he did, but still he ran really well. This particular course just wasn't very accommodating to pass others, particularly in the later stages of the race. On the surface, maybe 98th is not what he wanted, but I think it was still an outstanding effort and in his words, he isn't a cross country guy, so he's excited about what lays ahead in the track season."
THE MEET | RESULTS
Larson pulled out a competitive performance, besting his 10K personal record by nearly a minute and finishing under 30 minutes for the first time in his career. The South Dakota native had a tough start to the race as he found himself in 216th at the first kilometer split. Larson steadily gained ground throughout the race to land 98th of 259 competitors with a time 29:34.2.
