The South Dakota State women's volleyball team begins a three-game roadstand with a midweek match at South Dakota on Tuesday at 7 p.m. On Sunday, the Jackrabbits will travel to take on North Dakota for a 1 p.m. matchup.

LAST TIME OUT
The Jackrabbits split a pair of home matches this past weekend, falling to Denver, 3-1 (15-25, 20-25, 26-24, 17-25), and defeating Oral Roberts, 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21).

The trio of outside hitters including,
Makenzie Hennen,
Crystal Burk and
Ashlynn Smith, led the Jacks against Denver with 13, 12, and 10 kills, respectively.
Anna Nerad posted six blocks and
Tatum Pickar added 14 digs.

In the win over Oral Roberts, Hennen and Burk each registered a double-double. Pickar tallied a career-best 25 digs.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
South Dakota
South Dakota holds a record of 23-1 with a perfect 12-0 mark in Summit League matches. The Coyotes are on a 20-match win streak. Elizabeth Juhnke paces USD with 349 kills, averaging a Summit League leading 4.01 kills per set. Sami Slaughter has tallied 326 kills and Elizabeth Loschen adds 179. Madison Jurgens supports the offense with a Summit League best of 996 assists, averaging 11.45 assists per set. Anne Rasmussen has accumulated 418 digs while Maddie Wiedenfeld leads the Coyotes with 91 total blocks.

USD is under the direction of head coach Leanne Williamson who is in her fifth season with a record of 97-56. The Jacks are 12-19 all-time against South Dakota. Earlier this season, SDSU fell to the Coyotes, 3-0 (16-25, 15-25, 16-25), at home.

North Dakota
North Dakota is 11-15 on the season and is tied with South Dakota State in Summit League action with a 3-9 record. Most recently the Fighting Hawks defeated Western Illinois (3-2) and fell to Purdue Fort Wayne (3-1). Ashley Brueggeman heads the offense with 305 kills. Abi McGlynn holds a team-high 24 service aces. A pair of setters in Peyton Swewll and Julia Vetter have tallied 481 and 376 assists, respectively. Darian Chwialkowski has a total of 317 digs, while MacKenzie Damon has 270 digs. Lydia Rutten holds a team-high 88 blocks.

UND is under the direction of first year head coach Jeremiah Tiffin. The Jacks lead the all-time series against North Dakota, 53-31. Earlier this season, South Dakota State defeated the Fighting Hawks, 3-1 (25-17, 15-25, 25-22, 25-22).

HENNEN REACHES 1,000
In the third set of the match against Denver on Friday,
Makenzie Hennen became the 12th Jackrabbit all-time to reach 1,000 career kills. She needed a total of nine kills to reach the mark headed into the match and now has 1,022 kills.

Outside Hitters
- Makenzie Hennen has a total of 297 kills, 256 digs and 25 blocks. She has recorded double digit kill totals in 18 of the 24 matches the Jacks have played, while registering a double-double in 12 matches. The senior holds a hitting percentage of .141 including a career best mark of .556 in the Jacks' win over Prairie View A&M. She tied her career-best of 24 kills against Milwaukee. Hennen ranks seventh in the Summit League in kills per set (3.23) and total kills (297).
- Crystal Burk has tallied 232 kills, 17 service aces and 249 digs. She registered a career-best 20 kills against North Dakota State last weekend. Against Kansas City, she recorded a career high of 19 digs. Burk notched her 10th ever double-double against with 20 kills and 15 digs. The sophomore was named to the EIU Panther Invitational all-tournament team.
- Ashlynn Smith has a total of 199 kills, 75 digs, 42 blocks and 24 service aces. Smith registered her first double-double of the season against North Dakota with 11 kills and 11 digs. The senior was named to the Katrinka Crawford Invitational all-tournament team.

- A trio of freshman, in Anna Nerad, Tori Thompson and Abbey Fryauf, have covered the middle for the Jacks.
- Nerad has led SDSU's blocking in 12 matches including a career high of seven blocks against Louisiana Monroe. She has a total of 70 blocks, 80 kills and 42 digs.
- Thompson has tallied 125 kills and 51 blocks, including a career-best performance against Fresno State with 12 kills on a .550 hitting percentage.
- During the opening weekend of Summit League play, Fryauf debut in the starting lineup. She has recorded 10 blocks and 11 kills.
- Sydney Andrews has appeared in five matches, including one start. She has recorded seven kills and three blocks

- Tatum Pickar paces the Jacks with 376 digs, averaging 3.99 digs per set. She has also posted 15 service aces. Drew McDougall has earned some playing time as a freshman and has tallied 89 digs.

- Carly Wedel and Madison Fay aid the offense with 434 and 386 assists, respectively. Wedel posted a career-best 51 assists against Milwaukee.

POST SEASON ACCOLADES
Makenzie Hennen became the first Jackrabbit since
Ashley Beaner in 2016 and the eighth overall to earn all-league honors as she was named honorable mention All-Summit League.

After posting a 3.425 GPA as a team, the Jacks were recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, earning the Team Academic Award for the 2018-2019 season.

SMITH, HENNEN NAMED PLAYERS TO WATCH
SDSU's
Ashlynn Smith and Mackenzie Hennen were recognized by the Summit League as 2019 Volleyball Players to Watch.

Smith started 25 of 29 matches for South Dakota State last season, finishing second on the team in kills (251) and kills per set (2.46). The Laporte, Indiana native recorded a pair of double-doubles and had double-digit in 10 matches.

Hennen, an All-Summit League honorable mention pick in 2018, started all 29 matches and was the team's top all-around threat. She led the Jackrabbits in kills (340), kills per set (3.27) and attempts (1,098) while sitting second in digs (281), service aces (13), digs per set (2.70) and solo blocks (seven). The Jordan, Minnesota native had two 20-kill matches, 18 10-kill matches and 13 double-doubles.
