It doesn't feel like spring in South Dakota yet, but the South Dakota State women's golf team gets its spring season underway Saturday and Sunday at the Lake Oconee Invitational, hosted by Mercer, in Greensboro, Ga.
The Jackrabbits are one of 16 teams which begin play Saturday at the National Course at Lake Oconee. The event consists of 27 holes each day with 8 a.m. shotgun starts.
The field includes: Albany, Bradley, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Delaware, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Kentucky, Mercer, Rutgers, South Alabama, Texas Tech, UNC Wilmington, Vanderbilt and Yale.
State played in five tournaments in the fall and collected a pair of top-five finishes. The Jackrabbits won the UNO Invitational and was fourth at the UC Irvine Invitational.
Junior
Teresa Toscano leads the team with a 73.07 stroke average and ranks second in The Summit League. She won the UNO Invitational and has top-10 finishes in four of the five fall tournaments.
Classmate
Sydney Bormann (76.20) and freshman
Mia Seeman (76.67) are second and third, respectively, in stroke average. Bormann finished second at the UNO Invitational and 11
th in the UC Irvine Invitational. Seeman was fourth in the UNO Invitational.
The Jackrabbits' 300.87 stroke average ranks third in The Summit League.
