Editor's note: The South Dakota State women's basketball seniors are sharing on GoJacks.com "Letter to Jackrabbit Nation."Â First up is senior Sydney Palmer.
Jackrabbit Nation,
Â
First of all, I would like to say thank you for making these past four years some of the most memorable and life-changing years of my life. Not only have I grown so much as a basketball player, but also as a person. I can honestly say that Jackrabbit Nation has greatly impacted me. You have shown me what is it like to be a part of a family and to support anyone and everyone that walks into my life. You have made Brookings a home for my teammates and me, and I could not be more grateful for that.
Â
In just a few short months, I will be moving on from basketball, which will be one of the hardest things I have done. One way that will ease this transition will be reflecting on the memories I have made. Basketball has been a part of my life since I was born. All the lessons, friendships, and memories that I have gotten from it have made me who I am today, and Jackrabbit Nation has been a significant part of that.
Â
Even from my everyday activities like going to the grocery store or going out to eat, the support that Jackrabbit Nation gave me was indescribable. There were multiple times where fans and kids came up to me for autographs or told me how much I meant to them, and that is something that made me feel special. You have made each and every one of us feel like rock stars, and I know not only myself, but each and every one of my teammates wouldn't trade that experience for the world.
Â
So Jackrabbit Nation, thanks for making us feel like celebrities. Thank you for showing us how to treat others with kindness and respect. Thank you for teaching us life lessons that will resonate with us for the rest of our lives. Lastly, thank you for accepting us with open arms and making Jackrabbit Nation feel like a home and family to me. I couldn't be more appreciative for the memories and opportunities I have made at SDSU these past four years, and it's all because of Jackrabbit Nation!
Â
Thank you again for everything, once a Jackrabbit always a Jackrabbit. And as always, GO BIG GO BLUE GO JACKS!
Â
