SIOUX FALLS - The South Dakota State swimming and diving teams took another step forward in day three of the Summit League Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships presented by U.S. Air Force Special Operations Friday night.
The Jacks men sit in third place with 292.5 points while the women are in fourth with 275.5 points through three days of competition.
"We keep getting better each session and tonight was no different," said head coach
Doug Humphrey. "We added new names to the school record books and have a lot of momentum heading into tomorrow."
The Jackrabbits saw broken records for the third night in a row with a trio of new times set Friday.
New Records
In prelims,
Wyatt Rumrill set the school record in the men's 100 breast with a time of 55.11, breaking the previous mark of 55.76.
Trever Brenner reset his own school record in the 200 free, placing fourth with a time of 1:37.50 to top the 1:37.82 time he set Wednesday in his opening leg of the 800 free relay.
In the 400 medley relay, the men's 'A' team reset the school record in 3:19.18 to place second while breaking the previous mark of 3:19.80.
Who Else Placed
On the women's side of the 400 medley relay, the 'A' team finished fourth with a season-best time of 3:51.02.
In the women's 400 IM,
Ashley Theobald placed 11th with a season-best time of 4:36.76 while
Liezl Ocon (4:41.96) placed 15th.
Jacob Sutej placed 13th in the men's 400 IM with a team season-best time of 4:11.57, with
Damon Venner finishing 16th in a career-best 4:13.98.
Richelle Bruyckere and Emily Pincus finished seventh and eighth in the women's 200 free, posting a 1:51.94 and 1:52.30, respectively.
Daniela Santillan finished in 13th in 1:55.44.
After Brenner's fourth-place finish,
Cody Watkins (1:40.83) placed ninth and
Ben Johnson (1:42.74) 13th, posting career-best times.
Alex Kraft finished 11th in 1:42.08.
Rumrill placed fourth in the men's 100 breast in 55.23. For the women,
Kady Harris swam a career-best 1:06.63 to place 11th.
Mikayla Beckman (1:05.80) finished ninth and
Sam Frigard (1:07.69) placed 14th.
Alice Foote swam a career-best 57.95 to place seventh in the women's 100 back, followed up by
Tiffany Nguyen (58.88) in 13th,
Rori Conners (59.52) in 14th and
Annika Skogg (1:00.52) in 16th.
In the men's 100 back,
Henry Skinner posted a career-best and team season-best 50.38 to place sixth.
Chase Petersen placed eighth in 50.61 with
Jared Miller (51.30) placing 10th and
Josh Wuflestad finishing 12th in a career-best 51.52.
In the women's 1-meter dive,
Abbigail Rouse placed ninth with a score of 212.70 and
Quincee Simonson finished in 10th with a 206.75.
