South Dakota State men's golfer
Jones Comerford won the 38th annual Simi Valley City Golf Championship Sunday.
Comerford shot a 9-under (65-68=133) at the two-day, two-round event at the par-71, 6,600-yard Simi Hills Golf Course in Simi Valley, California to finish three strokes ahead of the runner-up.
In the 2018-19 season with the Jackrabbits, Comerford produced a 76.00 stroke average over 14 rounds to rank third on the team. At the Summit League Championship, the sophomore lead the Jacks, finishing tied for eighth shooting a season-low 54-hole 222.
About the Event
The Simi Valley City Championship is considered as one of the premier championships in Southern California. The tournament features two divisions of play—regular and senior. The regular division includes golfers ages 17 and older while the senior division is 50 and older.
