Ben Anteau of Jamestown, N.D. (Jamestown H.S.) has signed with the Jackrabbit track and field and cross country program. Anteau posted two top-10 finishes in the North Dakota State Class A cross country championships including a third place finish for the Bluejays at the 2020 state meet.
After his junior year he also finished 30th in the Nike Heartland Regional race, which brings the upper Midwest's best runners into one race. His improvement continued his senior year where he finished in the top three of all of his races individually and he ran 5000 meters in 15:47 or better in five of the six times he toed the starting line. Anteau's best mark of 15:34 came at the state meet.Â
His junior track season was canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic and he hopes to improve upon his 10th grade personal bests of 4:53 for 1600 and 10:24 for 3200 this upcoming spring.
He plans to major in wildlife and fisheries.
The Jackrabbit men's cross country team will shoot for its fifth consecutive Summit League Cross Country championship on March 5th in Macomb, Ill.
