South Dakota State volleyball cruised to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-18) win over St. Thomas Saturday night at Frost Arena. SDSU registered a .532 team hitting percentage and all but one Jackrabbit attacker hit .462 or higher in the contest.
Crystal Burk led all players with 13 kills and attacked at a .600 clip.
Sydney Andrews added nine kills with a .615 hitting percentage and
Elyse Winter hit .462 with seven kills.
After dominating sets one and two, the Jackrabbits found themselves down 12-8 after giving up six points on errors to the Tommies. A timeout was all the team needed to reset, however, and the Jacks went on a 10-1 run out of the break to turn things around. Three of Burk's kills came in that stretch.
State led 22-15 after two more Burk kills, bringing her total for the third set to six. A service error by the Tommies gave the Jacks match point and
Sydney Andrews and
Akeela Jefferson finished St. Thomas off with a block.
SDSU's defense held the Tommies to just .114 on the attack. Andrews paced the Jackrabbits with six blocks and Winter added four.
Setter
Jasmine Weidemann notched three kills on her five attempts to surprise the Tommies and had 44 assists.
Tatum Pickar was the only player for either team with with double-digit digs, notching 14.
SDSU had another strong night from the service line. The team had eight aces, including three each from Burk and
Ella Thompson.
