South Dakota State women's golf begins its 2021 season at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational Feb. 19-21 in Greensboro, Ga.Â
The event, hosted by Mercer University, consists of 54-hole stroke play and will be held at Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee, a 72-par, 6,031 yard course. Tee times begin at 9 a.m. each day from the first and 10th tee. The Jackrabbits will be one of 16 teams participating.Â
2021 marks the third consecutive season the Jacks will play in the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, placing eighth out of 14 teams in 2020 and 12th out of 17 teams in 2019.Â
The Jackrabbits' lineup will feature
Teresa Toscano,
Cassidy Laidlaw,
Hester Sicking,
Lani Potter and
Mia Seeman.
Alex Kandolin will compete as an individual
SDSU participated in six events last season before the COVID-19 pandemic ended their season in March. In its last tournament, the Jacks finished first in the Jackrabbit Invitational March 9-10, 2020.Â
In his seventh year as director of golf, Casey VanDamme returns six golfers from last season's squad and brings in two newcomers. The athletes originate from as close as Aberdeen and as far as Spain, the Netherlands and Ireland.Â
Toscano continues her decorated Jackrabbit career, entering 2021 with a 73.77 career stroke average in 107 rounds played. Mia Seeman finished 2020 with a 74.89 stroke average in 19 rounds.Â
The Jacks were tabbed to finish third in the Summit League Women's Golf Preseason Poll with Toscano named a golfer to watch.Â
