BROOKINGS— The South Dakota State equestrian team defended home soil Friday, passing Delaware State 11-8 inside the DeHaan Equestrian Center. Team veterans

Alaina Kauffman,
Laura Munger,
Cassidy Gardiner and
Riley Hanna were honored in a senior recognition ceremony for their years of deication to the team.

Delaware State took an early 3-2 lead after Equitation Over Fences, but SDSU hung close when
Samantha Hunsecker (81) and
Hayley Kastrup (81) gave the Jacks their first points of the day.
Cassidy Gardiner tied things up for State after converting on a score of 70 in Reining. DSU would respond with two more points, but the Jacks responded with
Isabelle Riggs (MOP, 72.5) and
Cassandra Townsend (70.5) scoring to close out the Reining and tie the meet at 5 apiece.Â
Jadyn Taylor took home Most Outstanding Performer honors with her score of 72.5 in Horsemanship. Also converting for the Jacks,
Kodi O'Boyle scored a 66 to edge out her opponent from DSU's 65.
Callyn Fox tallied a 70 and
Shelby Cochran tied her opponent for the draw.Â
Finally, on the Flat,
Hayley Kastrup took home MOP honors in her final home meet at the DeHaan Equestrian Center.
Ashley Hess and
Rachel Head also scored for the Jacks with 67 and 73, respectively.Â
The Jackrabbits will face Minnesota-Crookston tomorrow morning for the second day of the homestand. Meet start time is 9 a.m.Â
The Jackrabbits will ony be competing in the two western disciplines Saturday.
This meet marks the first double-win season for the Jacks since 2017-18.
