WOLCOTT, Colo. - South Dakota State's
Reese Jansa and
Alex Kandolin paced the Jackrabbits during the first round of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic Monday.
Jansa and Kandolin are tied for 16th place following the first 18 holes of competition. The Jackrabbits are in a tie for sixth place as a team (297, +9).
Jansa and Kandolin are both even-par with a combined 11 birdies on the day. Jansa was fairly steady through the round, rolling in four birdies and recording only two holes over par. Kandolin tallied seven birdies.
Shakira-Ann Kuys is tied for 25th place at 2-over and
Piper Stubbs rounds out the day-one scorers in a tie for 63rd place (79, +7).
McKenzie Mages is tied for 84th place (83, +11).
The Jackrabbits had 20 birdies as a unit Monday, which leads all teams.
The Pepperdine squad is 3-under after 18 holes to lead the field. Alex Crafton of East Tennessee State recorded a 68 (-4) to lead all players.
