WOLCOTT, Colo. - The South Dakota State women's golf team saved its best round for last at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic. The Jacks tallied a 294 (+6) as a team Wednesday and finished in 11th place overall.
McKenzie Mages fired the best round of her collegiate career on the final lap - a 69 (-3) with five birdies. She rolled in consecutive birdies on holes six and seven and then ten and eleven. Mages tallied only two holes over par. Her final round moved her up 26 places on the leaderboard into a tie for 60th place.
Piper Stubbs was even-par Wednesday, bringing her three-day tally to 228 (+12). Stubbs and
Reese Jansa tied for 40th place.
Shakira-Ann Kuys was one shot back and ended up in 44th place.
Alex Kandolin finished 76th.
Pepperdine won the team title by 10 shots over New Mexico State. The Aggies' Alison Gastelum finished 7-under to earn medalist honors.
