WOMEN TAKE SECOND, HISKEN FIRST AT SDSU CLASSIC

BROOKINGS, SD – Senior Leah (Hansen) Hisken won the women's 5k as six Jackrabbit women placed in the top 20 to take second place overall at the SDSU Classic on Friday night.
Hisken clocked a 17:46.3 to take the crown, finishing a full 11 seconds ahead of the next competing athlete. Mya Kizer also claimed a top-10 spot as she ran a personal best 18:14.3 for eighth place.
Jessica Lutmer came 11th with her personal best clocking of 18:23.2, Claire Beckman ran a 18:34.8 for 13th and Caitlin Bright rounded out SDSU's scoring runners with her 16th place finish in 18:38.6.
Grace Waage was also in the top 20 as she took 19th in a personal best time of 18:42.4. Sierra Watterud clocked a PR of 18:47.5 for 23rd, Emma Gonzalez finished 37th in 19:35.5 and Jenna Soine ran a 19:39.2 for a PR and 40th place.
Nina Dawson (46th, 19:57.5), Kadense Dooley (47th, 20:03.6), Emma Ecker (48th, 20:07.9), Hannah Neusch (61st, 21:17.6) and Hannah Spoden (64th, 21:54.8) all also competed for the yellow and blue.
The SDSU women finished second in the team standings with 46 points as North Dakota State took the top spot with 41 points. South Dakota was third with 61 points, North Dakota came fourth with 112 points, Augustana scored 131 points for fifth place and Northern State earned 158 points for sixth.
UP NEXT: SDSU will have an off-week before hitting the road for the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 22.
