FAIRFAX, Calif. - South Dakota State junior
Bryson Mercier tallied consecutive rounds in the 60s Monday and is in a tie for 14th place at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational.
Mercier fired a 68 (-3) for the opening round at Meadow Club, followed by a 66 (-5) on the second lap. His opening-round 68 matched his career best and his 66 is a new personal collegiate low round. He totaled nine birdies on the day and went bogey-free during round two. Mercier's 8-under scorecard has him five shots off the top of the leaderboard.
As a team, SDSU is in 11th place at 14-under. Pacific leads the team race at -41 and San Jose State is in second place with a -37 tally.
Ty Kretz, a senior, is tied for 42nd place with the next best Jackrabbit scorecard. He opened the day with an even-par 71 on round one, then finished with a 68 (-3) on round two.
Tyler Seeling is two shots back in a tie for 54th place.
Blake Schaper and
Jake Olson are tied for 61st in the standings.
San Jose State's Zubair Firdaus and Keshav Mungali are tied for the lead after 36 holes.
UP NEXT
The final round of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational will be played Tuesday. The Jackrabbits are slated to tee off on hole 10 starting at 8:10 a.m.
