NEWTON, Kan. -
Ty Adkins is 6-under par and in second place at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational with 18 holes left to play at Sand Creek Station Golf Course.
Adkins, who transferred to South Dakota State from Wichita State this fall, fired a 67 (-5) during Monday's round, moving him to runner-up position on the leaderboard. He was bogey free on the day with five birdies.
Paced by Adkins, the SDSU team is in third place and only five shots off the top of the leaderboard. St. Thomas leads all teams with a -5 team score, followed by host Wichita State at -3.
Bryson Mercier shot an even-par round Monday, matching his lap from Sunday. He is tied for 18th place.
Tyler Seeling went +3 for his second round and is tied for 33rd place with a +3 overall tally.
Drew Teeter was also +3 on Monday and is +4 overall, tied for 40th place.
Jacob Wilson is tied for 63rd (+6).
Jake Olson is competing individually and is tied for 83rd place (+11)
NOTES
SDSU is averaging 4.04 shots per par-4 hole, which is tied for the lead among all participating teams.
UP NEXT
The final round of the invitational is set for Tuesday.
