Merideth Jewell joined the Jackrabbit volleyball staff in July 2021 as an assistant coach.
In Jewell's first season with the team, the Jackrabbits went 19-12 (10-8 Summit), posting the most total wins for the program since 2011. State qualified for the Summit League Championship Tournament for the first time since 2010 and won a postseason match for the first time since 2007. Two Jackrabbits earned Summit League postseason honors in 2021 - Crystal Burk was a First-Team All-Summit League pick and Ella Thompson was named to the All-Freshman Team.Â
Jewell joined the Jackrabbits after serving on the Louisville coaching staff as a graduate manager during the 2019 season as well as a volunteer assistant this past season. The Cardinals made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances with Jewell on staff.

Jewell began her collegiate career at Morehead State where she was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, and All-OVC honors, while ranking No. 17 in the nation in total attacks. As a sophomore, she was First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference and ranked No. 41 in the nation in kills and No. 12 in total attacks.
After transferring to Kentucky, as a junior, Jewell appeared in 27 matches as the Wildcats made the postseason, where she played in every NCAA match and earned All-SEC Academic honors. As a senior, she was a part of Kentucky’s undefeated run through the SEC regular season slate. She was named All-SEC Academic that year as well.
