South Dakota State opened its home schedule last weekend against The Summit League's preseason favorite Oral Roberts riding a 12-match home winning streak and then played a Missouri State team that went to the NCAA Tournament in each of the past three years.
The Golden Eagles snapped the Jackrabbits home winning streak in a 3-1 win, while the Bears won 3-0 to send the Jacks to two straight home losses and nine straight to start the 2008 season.
The task does not get any easier this week, as the Jackrabbits kick-off a four match road trip, starting in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Tuesday against Northern Iowa and then to Fargo on Saturday to take on North Dakota State. First serve for both matches is slated for 7 p.m.
The Panthers enter Tuesday's match with an Missouri Valley Conference best 11-1 overall record, and sit atop the stacked Valley with a 2-0 conference record.
The Bison enter the week fresh off a 3-1 win over Oral Roberts on Saturday, and lead The Summit League with a 7-3 overall record and tied with IUPUI, Western Illinois and IPFW with flawless league records.
Northern Iowa owns a 2-0 series lead with the Jackrabbits, with wins in the 1976 and in 1981. The Jacks and Bison split a pair of five-game matches last season, with each team winning on its home floor.
Senior Mackenzie Angner led the Jacks with 78 kills during the five-match Florida trip, and came away with all-tournament team honors at the Seminole Tri-Tournament hosted by Florida State, but SDSU also got significant contributions from its freshmen.
Kelli Fiegen tallied 48 kills on the trip and led team with a .214 hitting percentage, while Ellyce Youngren finished the trip with 39 kills, a team-high ten block assists and all-tournament team honors at the Hurricane Invitational. Freshman Trisha Birr along with sophomores Melia Iwamoto, Ashley Kathol and Rebecca Poeppel also played large roles on the road trip.
Through the first eight matches, Angner leads the Jacks with 125 kills, while Fiegen leads the team with a .216 hitting percentage. Youngren leads the Jacks with 13 block assists and with 18 total blocks and Junior Stacey Wernert leads the team with 91 digs.
RABBITS ON THE RADIO ? All Jackrabbit volleyball matches, home and on the road, can be heard on AM 910 KJJQ, with Tyler Merriam doing the play-by-play. The pre-game show begins approximately 20 minutes before first serve.

SDSU VOLLEYBALL ON Mediacom ? South Dakota State athletics teamed-up with Mediacom to increase its presence throughout the 2008 season. Replays of Jackrabbit home volleyball matches can be seen Monday-Thursday on the Mediacom Connections Channel in South Dakota and Minnesota at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at 11:30 a.m.
The Nana Allison-Brewer coach's show can be seen Monday-Thursday at 11:30 a.m. and on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
Northern Iowa Panthers (11-1, 1-0 Missouri Valley) ? Northern Iowa enters Tuesday's match riding a four-match win streak, which includes conference wins over Drake and Creighton last weekend. The Panther's lone loss in 2008 came at the hands of Kansas State at the K-State Invitational. Prior to that loss, the UNI won both the Florida Atlantic Invitational and the UNI Invitational.
Shannon Aschoff leads a balanced, and potent, UNI offensive attack with 156 kills, followed by Amy Sampson with 134 kills and Ashten Stelken with 123 kills. Stelken also lead the Panthers with a dominant .339 hitting percentage and with 54 total blocks.
Bre Payton and Jessa Bentson both handle the setting duties, while Ellie Blankenship leads the team with 231 digs.
As evidenced by their 11-1 record, the Panthers dominate their opponents in nearly all major statistical categories.
North Dakota State Bison (7-3, 1-0 Summit) ? North Dakota State picked-up its first conference win on Saturday, when the Bison downed The Summit League's preseason favorite Oral Roberts 3-1 in Fargo.
The Bison, picked to finish third in the league's preseason poll, enter the week with a Summit League best 7-3 record, which includes a pair of wins and one loss in all three of their early season tournaments.
Jennifer Lopez leads the Bison offense with 119 kills and ranks second with 129 set assists. Chrissy Knuth leads the Bison with 32 total blocks while Kelly Lopez and Abbey Perez both start the week with a team-high 122 digs.
NDSU hits .210 as a team, 29-points better than its opponents, but have struggled at the service line so far this season.
