Bulldog and Eagle Women's Invitational (Gonzaga & E. Washington)

POST FALLS, Idaho ? The South Dakota State women's golf team carded a final-round 307 on Tuesday to move up to ninth place at the Bulldog and Eagle Invitational, hosted by Gonzaga and Eastern Washington at The Links Golf Club.
The season-low score moved the Jackrabbits up a pair of spots. They finished with a three-round score of 962 (328-327-307) at the par-72, 6,123-yard course.
Four individuals broke 80 for SDSU in the third round.
Sophomore Sydney Sturdevant (Sioux Falls) paced SDSU with a tie for 21st. She followed up rounds of 81 and 80 with a 2-over-par 74 to finish with a 235 total. Sturdevant entered the day in a tie for 28th.
Sophomore Hillary Gerster (Andover, Minn.) fired a final-round 77 and moved up seven spots into a tie for 34th. She posted a 242 (82-83-77) total.
Freshman Rebecca Swords (Rosemount, Minn.) also moved up seven spots after a 78. She tied for 47th at 247 (86-83-78).
Senior Amanda Rosol (Fairmont, Minn.) made the biggest move of the day for the Jacks, jumping from a tie for 61st to a tie for 50th. A final round 78 gave her a 248 (89-81-78) total.
Sophomore Whitney Schrader (Marshalltown, Iowa) was among the seven players tied for 50th at 248 (79-86-83).
Portland State doubled its lead from the first day and went on to win by six shots. The Vikings posted a team total of 921 (308-311-302). Cal Poly finished second at 927 (311-311-305), Gonzaga was third with a 930 (315-313-302), Eastern Washington placed fourth at 936 (314-317-305) and British Columbia University rounded out the top-5 at 949 (320-320-309).
First-round leader Western Washington ended up in sixth at 950 (305-323-322). Portland State and Gonzaga shared the low round of the tournament with their final-round 302s.
Individually, Portland State's Stephanie Johns, who entered the final round seven shots back in a tie for ninth, closed with a 2-under 70 to win by three at 225 (77-78-70).
First- and second-round leader Kaitlin Parker, who had the low round of the tournament (69) in the first round, fell into a tie for second with Portland State's Danielle Ranallo. Parker (69-79-80), of Western Washington, and Ranallo (74-76-78) finished at 228.
After windy and rainy conditions on Monday, the average team score dropped from 322.5 to 313.7 on Tuesday.
Fourteen teams and 81 individuals competed in the event.
The Jackrabbits are taking a week off from competition before playing in the Hawkeye Invitational on Oct. 4-5 in Iowa City, Iowa.
