South Dakota State hit the road last week riding a season-long four match losing streak, a streak that IUPUI extended to five with a 3-0 defeat of the Jackrabbits on Friday in Indianapolis.
The Jacks snapped the season-long skid on Saturday at Western Illinois, with a 3-1 Hobo Day win over the Fighting Leathernecks. Ellyce Youngren led the Jacks in the win with 17 kills and a career-high 11 digs for her second career double-double, her first of the season.
Along with Youngren, four other Jackrabbits set career marks in the win. Kelsey Hansen with five blocks, Kelly Herrmann with 12 kills, Stacey Wernert with 26 digs and Emily Palmer with 17 digs.
The Jackrabbits final home week of the 2009 season starts with what may be their toughest task of the season on Wednesday, when they host Northern Iowa, a 2008 NCAA Tournament team that enters the match with a 20-2 record and an 18-match winning streak.
A Summit League weekend starts with Southern Utah on Friday, and then wraps-up with Senior Night on Saturday against UMKC, when the Jacks honor Wernert, the team's lone senior and team leader with 315 digs.
Ellyce Youngren leads the Jackrabbits with 231 kills and with 64 total blocks. Fiona Jones ranks second on the team with 221 kills and with 219 digs, and leads the team with nine double-doubles. Nicole Peters leads the Jacks with 424 set assists, but continues to split the setting duties with Thyele Rechatiko, who enters the week with 310 set assists.
Next up for the Jackrabbits - The Jackrabbits wrap-up the regular season with a three-match road swing, starting on Nov. 7, at league-leading North Dakota State, followed by matches at Oral Roberts on Nov. 13, and at Centenary on Nov. 14.
The Jacks fell to the Bison 3-1 in the first meeting on Oct. 10, in Frost arena, and beat both Centenary and Oral Roberts in the first home weekend of the season. SDSU beat the Ladies 3-0 and the Golden Eagles 3-1 at Frost Arena.
RABBITS ON THE RADIO - All Jackrabbit volleyball home matches, and select road matches, can be heard on KJJQ 910 AM. The pre-game show starts approximately 20 minutes before first serve.

Northern Iowa Panthers (20-2, 9-0 Valley) - The Panthers enter Wednesday's match riding an 18-match winning streak, which includes a perfect 9-0 record in the Missouri Valley Conference. Only two wins in the streak went to five sets and five of them went four sets. Both of the Panther losses came to teams currently ranked in the top-25 in No. 25 Texas A&M and No. 9 Iowa State.
Shannon Aschoff leads a potent UNI offense with 237 kills and ranks second on the team with 53 blocks. Michelle Burrow ranks second on the team with 228 kills and leads the team with 70 blocks.
The Series vs. Northern Iowa - The Panthers won the first and only meeting against the Jackrabbits 3-1 on Sept. 23, 2008 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. UNI went on to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost 3-1 to Iowa State in the first round.
Southern Utah Thunderbirds (6-16, 4-8 Summit) - SUU dropped its lone Summit League match last week, 3-0 at UMKC, and lost to Utah Valley earlier in the week by the same score.
Analaine Pelaez leads the T-Bird's offense with 353 kills and ranks second on the team with 237 digs. Jazmine Ma'afala ranks second on the team with 226 kills and ranks third on the team with 218 digs. Courtney Lesepali leads the team with 318 digs, while Cashaano Renfro leads the team with 55 blocks.
The first meeting; 10/3/09 in Cedar City, Utah - The Jackrabbits dropped the first two sets, but battled back to win the final three sets to win the match 3-2.
The Series vs. Southern Utah - The Jackrabbits won the first and only meeting between the two teams earlier this season.
UMKC Kangaroos (10-12, 6-6 Summit) - The Kangaroos, who play at Kansas on Tuesday at at North Dakota State on Friday, enter the week on a five-match winning streak, which includes a 3-0 win over Southern Utah last weekend at home.
Defending Summit League Offensive Player of the Week Kelsey Knoche leads UMKC with 253 kills, she enters the week tied for the team lead with 23 service aces and ranks second on the team with 270 digs. Nicole Kerkman leads the 'Roos with 33 digs, while Christiana McQuin leads the team with 78 blocks.
The first meeting; 10/1/09 in Kansas City, Mo. - The Jacks won the first two sets, but allowed UMKC to come back and win the final three sets for the 3-2 victory.
The Series vs. UMKC - The Kangaroos win in the first meeting of the season marked their first win over SDSU in seven tries.
