The Jackrabbits gave the regular season champion Bison all they could handle last Saturday in Fargo, but North Dakota State eventually held on for a five set win to extend its Summit League win streak to a record 35 matches.
Couple that loss with an IPFW win on Saturday, and that means that South Dakota State misses out on The Summit League Tournament for a second straight year, mean that this weekend's final road trip at Oral Robert and at Centenary marks the final two matches of the season for the Jackrabbits.
The Jacks start the final weekend of the season against Oral Roberts, who also failed to make the tournament, on Friday at 7 p.m., and then wrap up the season on Saturday in Shreveport, La., at 5 p.m., against Centenary, who enters the week without a league win for the second straight season.
Fiona Jones leads the Jackrabbits with 272 kills and a team-high 11 double-doubles, Ellyce Youngren ranks second on the team with 267 kills and a team-high 78 blocks. Thyele Rechatiko and Nicole Peters continue to split the setting duties and Stacey Wernert leads the team with 380 digs. Wernert gives the team something to play for this weekend though, as she needs just 29 digs over the final two matches to become the 13th member of the SDSU 1,000 Digs Club.
Next up for the Jackrabbits - This weekend's action marks the final two matches of the 2009 season.

THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION
Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (10-14, 6-9 Summit) - Like the Jackrabbits, ORU cannot qualify for The Summit League Tournament, so the Golden Eagles' season comes to an end on Monday with a match at Centenary, after they host SDSU and NDSU over the weekend.
ORU enters Friday's match with the Jacks after dropping six of its last seven matches including its last three matches.
Serena Cate leads the ORU offense with 255 kills, followed closely by Joana Gruber with 220. Jocelyn Swier enters the week with 125 kills and a team-high 47 blocks. Cassidy Holmes leads the Golden Eagles with 355 digs and Julina Vieria leads them with 928 set assists.
The first meeting; 9/12/09 at Frost Arena - After dropping the first set 25-18, the Jackrabbits rolled to wins in the next three sets to win the match 3-1. Ellyce Youngren led the balanced Jackrabbit attack with 19 kills, Kelli Fiegen tallied 13 kills in the match before an injury ended her season and Fiona Jones recorded 11 kills in the win.
The Series vs. Oral Roberts - The Golden Eagles led the all-time series 3-2, which includes a series split in 2007, an ORU sweep in 2008 and an SDSU win in the first meeting of this season.
Centenary Ladies (4-22, 0-15 Summit) - Winless in league play last season, the Ladies enter the week without a league win this season as well. The last Summit League win for the Ladies came on Oct. 27, 2007, when they downed UMKC at home by the score of 3-0.
Jennifer Kunze leads the Centenary offense with 177 kills, Blair Claypoole enters the week with 139 kills and a team-high 50 blocks. Bethany Kern leads the Ladies with 334 digs and Jaclyn Lopez leads the team with 626 set assists.
The first meeting; 9/11/09 at Frost Arena - The Jackrabbits cruised to a 3-0 sweep behind 14 kills from Fiona Jones and 10 kills each from Kelli Fiegen and Ellyce Youngren.
The Series vs. Centenary - The Jackrabbits lead the all-time series 5-0, and look for their third straight season sweep of the series on Saturday.
