South Dakota State returns to the road this week to play its first Summit League road matches of the season at Oakland on Friday and at IPFW on Saturday. Both matches start at 7 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. CT.
The Jackrabbits and Mastodons both enter the weekend winners of their last two matches, while the Golden Grizzlies come in winners of their last four. The Jacks and Grizzlies both swept their Summit League matches last week and enter the second week of league play with a 2-0 record, while the Mastodon's split their two matches on the opening league weekend.
The Jacks quickly turned a slow start to the season into a fast start in The Summit League with a pair of convincing wins over Centenary and Oral Roberts last weekend.
Both Kelli Fiegen and Ellyce Youngren finished with 10 kills against the Ladies, and both with impressive hitting percentages. Fiegen hit .533 (10-2-15) and Youngren hit .450 (10-1-20). SDSU hit .250 as a team and held the Ladies to a .021 hitting percentage in the 3-0 win.
The hot hitting continued on Saturday in the Jacks 3-1 win over Oral Roberts, as Fiegen hit .476 (13-3-21), while Youngren hit an astounding .643 (19-1-28). After hitting .171 as a team in the first set loss, the Jacks won the next three sets hitting .300, .345 and .630 respectively as a team.
YOUNGREN EARNS WEEKLY HONOR - Jackrabbit sophomore Ellyce Youngren earned her first-ever Summit League Offensive Player of the Week award after posting 29 kills on the weekend with just two errors in 48 attempts for a .562 hitting percentage. She also led the Jacks with 12 total blocks.
Youngren smacked 10 kills with a .450 hitting percentage in a sweep of Centenary on Friday, and then led all players with 19 kills and a .643 hitting percentage with nine total blocks in a 3-1 win over Oral Roberts on Saturday.
Youngren shared the weekly award with North Dakota State's Lauren McLaughlin.
RABBITS ON THE RADIO - All Jackrabbit volleyball home matches, and select road matches, can be heard on KJJQ 910 A.M. Next Tuesday's match at Creighton falls under select road matches, and can be heard live on KJJQ and on GoJacks.com.
The pre-game show starts approximately 20 minutes before first serve.

THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION
Oakland Golden Grizzlies (7-1, 2-0 Summit) - Oakland enters the weekend riding a four match win streak, which includes a pair of league road wins last weekend at UMKC and at Southern Utah.
Adrienne Leone leads the Golden Grizzlies offense with 121 kills and with 21 total blocks. Brittany Dunn leads the defense with 137 digs and with 12 service aces.
The Series vs. Oakland - The Jackrabbits leads the all-time series 4-0, including a pair of 3-0 sweeps last season.
IPFW Mastodons (6-5, 1-1 Summit) - IPFW comes into the weekend winners of its last two matchs and following a split in Summit League action last weekend. The Mastodons opened league play last weekend with a 3-1 loss at Southern Utah, but bounced back with a 3-1 win at UMKC. They also hung on to beat Western Michigan at home on Tuesday in non-conference action.
Rebekah Roehm leads the IPFW offense with 139 kills and with a .250 hitting percentage. Jamie Schwartz leads the team with 149 digs, while Taryn Parker leads the Dons with 36 total blocks.
The Series vs. IPFW - The Mastodons lead the all-time series 6-2. Both Jackrabbit wins came during the 2007 season, including a 3-2 win in the championship match of The Summit League Tournament.
Next up for the Jackrabbits - The Jacks make a quick trip down to Omaha to take on Creighton on Tuesday, before returning home for a pair of Summit League matches against Western Illinois on Friday and IUPUI on Saturday.
