The South Dakota State volleyball team opened the second half of The Summit League season on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to North Dakota State at Frost Arena, falling by the set scores of 13-25, 15-25 and 21-25.
Both teams end the match with the same 3-18 overall record, with the Jackrabbits falling to 1-7 in the league and the Bison improving to 3-5 in league play.
"The way we came out in set three, I wish we had that focus in sets one and two. Through the many lineup changes throughout the match, I thought the girls stayed really composed, they worked hard and they fought for every point," head coach Phil McDaniel said. "We just have to clean up a few little things."
Courtney Roberts led the Jackrabbit offense with nine kills and added a solo block. Wagner Larson finished with eight kills and Tiara Gibson six kills with one error in 10 swings for a .500 hitting percentage.
Lexi Fowler recorded her team-high fourth double-double of the season, and 26th of her career, with 26 set assists and 12 digs. Lizzie Palmer also finished with a dozen digs, while Kacey Herrmann led the Jacks with 14.
Jenni Fassbender led all players in the match with 17 kills and added 11 digs to complete the lone double-double for the Bison. Emily Milligan led the visitors with a match-high 15 digs.
The Jackrabbits return to the road next weekend, with matches at South Dakota on Friday and at Denver on Sunday. The Jacks and Coyotes get started at 7 p.m.
