Jacks Travel to the Empire State
- A winner in seven of the last eight games, the South Dakota State women's basketball team (8-3) travels to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Sunday for a noon game against Marist College.
- The Jackrabbits' defense powered them to a 67-42 win over UALR Thursday.   Â
- For the second time this season, SDSU had five players score in double digits, led by freshman Ellie Thompson's first collegiate double-double with a team-high 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds vs. the Trojans.
- Marist, 5-5, won its fourth consecutive game Dec. 13, defeating Boston University, 77-50. The Jackrabbits are the Red Foxes' final home game in a five-game homestand that started Dec. 5.
- Sunday's game marks the second meeting between South Dakota State and Marist. The Red Foxes lead the series 1-0 after beating the Jackrabbits 57-49 Nov. 25, 2011, in the Cancun Challenge in Cancun, Mexico.

First Half Lifts Marist
- South Dakota State dropped its finale at the Cancun Challenge in Cancun, Mexico, to Marist, 57-49.
- SDSU played a solid first half, gaining a one-point halftime advantage thanks to some decent determined play. The Jacks shot 32 percent from the floor, 22 percent from three-point range and made five of seven free throws.
- The Jacks led 25-24 at the break.
- In the second half, Marist was able to find a little more offensive rhythm and it proved to be too much for SDSU. Behind a 33-point second half, the Red Foxes pulled away for the 8-point victory.
- Jennie Sunnarborg led the way for the Jacks with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Ashley Eide hauled in 11 rebounds to go with 8 points, 5 assists and 3 steals. The other three starters; Katie Lingle, Jill Young and Steph Paluch; scored 8 points each.
- The Red Foxes overcame an eight-point deficit in the second half to beat SDSU.
