Jacks Open Summit Play Friday
- The seven-time defending Summit League champion South Dakota State women's basketball team begins its eighth season of league play Friday when it hosts Denver at 7 p.m. in the friendly confines of Frost Arena.
- The Jackrabbits, who finished the nonconference portion of their schedule 9-4, bring a modest two-game home winning streak into the opener while Denver has lost 6 out of its last 7 games and went 3-11 in nonconference play.
- SDSU closed 2014 with a 74-60 win at Northern Iowa Dec. 29. Freshman Macy Miller led the Jackrabbits with a career-high 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Senior Megan Waytashek added 19 points.
- Denver snapped a five-game losing streak with a 63-55 win at North Texas Dec. 28.
- Friday's game marks the sixth meeting between South Dakota State and Denver. The Jackrabbits lead the series 5-0 after beating the Pioneers twice last year.
