State Bragging Rights on the Line
- State bragging rights will be on the line today as the South Dakota State women's basketball team travels south to meet long-time rival South Dakota. Tipoff for the South Dakota Showdown Series game, presented by South Dakota Corn, is 2 p.m.
- SDSU, who is on the road for five of its first seven games in The Summit League schedule, sits at 12-6 overall and 3-2 in The Summit League standings after winning its sixth home game and second Summit League home game of the season Thursday.

- The Coyotes went 10-3 in nonconference play and look to remain undefeated at home today with a 7-0 record.
- Senior guard Raeshel Contreras leads the Coyotes and is fourth in league play in scoring, averaging 16.6 and 16.8 points per game, respectively. Senior guard Nicole Seekamp and junior center Margaret McCloud are chipping in 14.4 and 11.1 points per game, respectively. South Dakota is scoring at a 80.8 clip and has a 12.6 scoring margin.

- Today's game marks the 75th meeting between South Dakota State and South Dakota, dating to a 35-26 Jackrabbit victory Feb. 4, 1967, in Vermillion. It was the second game in SDSU's first season as a varsity program.
- Overall, the Jackrabbits hold a 53-21 series advantage, winning 36 of the last 38 meetings. SDSU won the first 14 games in the series before the Coyotes won 18 of 23 matchups between the 1977-78 and 1990-91 seasons. The Jackrabbits followed with 25 consecutive victories to start their recent run of success.
