On the Road, Again
- For the fifth time this month, the South Dakota State women's basketball team takes to the road when it travels to Macomb, Ill., to meet Western Illinois Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Western Hall.
- SDSU, who is on the road for five of its first seven Summit League games, sits at 12-7 overall and 3-3 in the league standings after dropping a 82-78 game at South Dakota Jan. 17.
- The Jackrabbits were led by freshman Macy Miller, who tied a career high with 25 points. Sophomore Chynna Stevens registered her third double-double of the year with 13 points and game-high 11 rebounds.
- Western Illinois is 3-2 in its last five games, falling to 3-2 in Summit League play with a 76-73 loss at Oral Roberts Jan. 17. The Fighting Leathernecks are 1-1 at home in league games.
- Wednesday's game marks the 16th meeting between South Dakota State and Western Illinois. The Jackrabbits lead the series 14-1 after winning both regular-season games last year and the last 14 in the series.

- Senior Megan Waytashek returns to the Jackrabbit lineup after sitting out the South Dakota game Jan. 17 due to illness.

Sophomore Clarissa Ober (3.8 ppg, 3.9 rpg) gives the Jacks size in the middle and junior Chloe Cornemann (1.2 ppg) and freshman Alexis Alexander (1.9 ppg, 1.3 apg) are solid guards that add a strong defensive presence.

- Western Illinois sits in a tie for third in The Summit League standings with records of 11-7 overall and 3-2 after losing at Oral Roberts, 76-73, Jan. 17.
- The Fighting Leathernecks went 8-5 in nonconference play and have a 6-2 home record in Western Hall.
- Summit League Preseason Player of the Year junior forward Ashley Luke leads Leathernecks and the league in scoring, averaging 18.6 and 24.6 points per game, respectively. Senior guard Tori Niemann and junior forward Sophie Reichelt are chipping in 11.8 and 10.3 points per game, respectively. Western Illinois is scoring at a 77.1 clip and has a 9.7 scoring margin.
- On the boards, three Leathernecks average 4-or-more rebounds per game led by Luke's 10.5 average.
- Junior guard Michelle Maher dishes a team-best 4.7 assists per game.

- Wednesday's game is the 16th meeting between SDSU and Western Illinois, and the Jacks lead the series 14-1.
- The Fighting Leathernecks won the initial meeting, 67-60, Jan. 14, 2008, in Macomb, Ill., but SDSU has since gone on to win the last 14 meetings, including the last six in Western Hall.Â
