Longtime Rivals Meet in Pork Classic
- In the middle of a three-game homestand, the South Dakota State women's basketball team gets a chance to avenge its January loss to North Dakota State Saturday when it leads off a doubleheader with the Jackrabbit men's basketball team in the 43rd Pork Classic in the friendly confines of Frost Arena at 2 p.m.
- SDSU is 14-7 overall and 5-3 in league play after winning its seventh home game of the season with a 71-46 victory over Oral Roberts Thursday.
- Freshman Macy Miller led four Jackrabbits in double digits in scoring with 16 points.
- SDSU will be protecting a modest five-game home winning streak and a 3-0 league record in Frost. It last lost at home Dec. 10, 2014.
- With two wins in a row, the Jackrabbits look to make it three for the first time since winning five consecutive games between Nov. 24 and Dec. 6.
- North Dakota State is 9-10 overall, 5-3 in Summit League play and 2-3 in its last five games after having a two-game win streak snapped, losing at Western Illinois Jan. 24, 88-66. The Bison enter Saturday's game with a 1-3 road record in The Summit League and in second place in The Summit League standings.
- Saturday's game marks the 81st meeting between South Dakota State and North Dakota State. SDSU leads the series 41-38 after the Jackrabbits dropped an 83-78 game in Fargo, N.D., Jan. 4.

- Five reserves have been key to SDSU's success. Freshman Ellie Thompson (5.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg) leads all non-starters in scoring. Senior Rachel Walters (3.7 ppg, 40.0 3FG%) is another three-point threat for the Jacks. Sophomore Clarissa Ober (3.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg) gives the Jacks size in the middle and junior Chloe Cornemann (1.1 ppg) and freshman Alexis Alexander (1.9 ppg, 1.6 apg) are solid guards who add a strong defensive presence.
A Glance at North Dakota State
- North Dakota State is 1-3 in Summit League road games this season. Its lone win was at Omaha, 77-60, Jan. 22.
- Senior guard Brooke LeMar leads the Bison in scoring, averaging 19.5 points per game, while junior forward Holly Johnson is chipping in 12.5 points per outing. NDSU is scoring at a 70-point clip and has a -3.3 scoring margin.
- On the boards, three Bison average 4-or-more rebounds per game led by junior forward Marena Whittle's 7.5 average. North Dakota State is being outrebounded by 3.7 boards per game.
