Final League Road Trip Wednesday
- The South Dakota State women's basketball team plays its final regular-season road game Wednesday when it travels to Omaha for a 7 p.m. tip in Sapp Fieldhouse.Â
- SDSU is 17-8 overall, 8-4 in league play and is tied with Western Illinois for second place in The Summit League standings. The Jackrabbits won their seventh overall and third Summit League road game at Oral Roberts Feb. 13, 66-52.
- Freshman Macy Miller scored a team-high 18 points to lead three Jackrabbits in double digits in scoring vs. Oral Roberts.Â
- SDSU will be looking for its third Summit League series sweep Wednesday, already sweeping Fort Wayne and Oral Roberts.
- Omaha has won two of its last three games after knocking off North Dakota State, 73-65, Feb. 14 in Fargo.
- The Mavericks enter Wednesday's game with a 6-6 overall home record and a 2-3 home record in Summit League games.
- Omaha is tied with Fort Wayne for eighth place in The Summit League standings.
- Wednesday's game marks the 64th meeting between South Dakota State and Omaha. SDSU leads the series 34-29 after the Jackrabbits defeated the Mavericks, 101-66, in Frost Arena Jan. 15.
Noteworthy
- With its win at Oral Roberts Feb. 13, SDSU is now two games behind first place South Dakota in The Summit League standings.
- SDSU has used four different lineups this season. The latest has seniors Mariah Clarin and Megan Waytashek, sophomore Kerri Young and freshmen Ellie Thompson and Macy Miller. Thompson stepped into the lineup Feb. 8, replacing sophomore Chynna Stevens who has a foot injury. No timetable has been given for her return.
- Wednesday's game is the last regular-season road game for the Jacks. They close their schedule with three home games Feb. 21-28.
- South Dakota State is 48-17 (.738) in Summit League road games and has won 11 of its last 15.
- The Jackrabbits are 110-22 (.833) overall in Summit League games since joining the league in 2007-08. The Jacks have won 13 of their last 17, dating to a 71-60 win over Omaha Feb. 13, 2014.
- SDSU head coach Aaron Johnston, who won his 350th game Dec. 29, enters Wednesday's game with a 358-125 (.741) overall record and a 110-22 (.833) league mark.

- Fielding lineups of either a freshman, two sophomores and two seniors or two freshmen, a sophomore and a pair of seniors, the Jackrabbits have a 17-8 overall record with a win at then-No. 25 Arkansas and victories over two top-10 CollegeInsider teams and a 8-4 Summit League record.
- Statistically, South Dakota State's biggest strengths have been rebounding (the Jacks outrebound opponents by 8.6 boards per game) and free-throw shooting (.778) in Summit League-only games.
- Ten players—three freshmen, three sophomores, a junior and three seniors—make the rotation.
- Megan Waytashek (13.8 ppg and 39.4 three-point percentage) is having an all-league season so far. She has five 20-plus point outings, a double-double, scored in double figures 18 times and ranks ninth overall and 13th in league-only scoring (13.0) in the Summit League.

- Miller and sophomore Kerri Young (9.6 ppg and 2.9 apg) give the Jacks a pair of 6-footers in the backcourt. Both have the ability to get to the basket and hit the three-pointer.
- Four reserves have been key to SDSU's success. Sophomore Clarissa Ober (4.3 ppg, 4.2 rpg) leads all non-starters in scoring and gives the Jacks size in the middle. Senior Rachel Walters (3.7 ppg, 39.4 3FG%) is another three-point threat for the Jacks. Junior Chloe Cornemann (1.2 ppg) and freshman Alexis Alexander (1.8 ppg, 1.6 apg) are solid guards who add a strong defensive presence.
A Glance at Omaha
- Omaha has won two of its last three games, defeating Western Illinois, 54-51, Feb. 8 and winning at North Dakota State, 73-65, Feb. 14.
- Sophomore guard Mikaela Shaw leads the Mavericks and is fifth in league play in scoring, averaging 15.3 and 17.9 points per game, respectively. Omaha is scoring at a 60.5 clip and has a -5.6 scoring margin.
- On the boards, three Mavericks average 4-or-more rebounds per game led by Shaw's 8.5 average.
- Sophomore guard Madi Robson dishes a team-best 3.8 assists per game and senior center Taijhe Kelly is blocking 3.1 shots an outing.
- The Mavericks are shooting 39.6 percent from the field, 29.7 percent from three-point range and 68.8 percent from the free-throw line.
Breaking Down the Omaha Series
- Wednesday is the 64th meeting between SDSU and Omaha. The Jackrabbits lead the series 34-29 after the Jackrabbits beat the Mavericks, 101-66 in Frost Arena Jan. 15.
- The series started in 1976-77 with the Mavericks winning 12 of the first 13 games. The Jackrabbits broke into the win column with an 82-75 overtime victory Feb. 1, 1979, and dominated the series late in the Division II era when SDSU and UNO were members of the North Central Conference.Â
- SDSU won 16 of the 20 meetings between the 1992-93 and 2003-04 seasons. Since then, the Jacks have beaten Omaha 10 times, including the last four times in Nebraska.
- In the series, there has been two 100-point games and two overtime games. The Jacks beat the Mavs, 104-62, Jan. 10, 2004, in Frost Arena and 101-66, Jan. 15, 2015, in Frost, but has lost both overtime games in Brookings, 92-85, Jan. 10, 1997, and 82-75, Feb. 2, 1979.
- Mariah Clarin averages 12.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and is shooting 54.9 percent from the field vs. Omaha. Megan Waytashek averages 10.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists in her five outings against the Mavericks.
Jacks Hit the Century Mark
- With six players scoring in double figures, South Dakota State University recorded a 101-66 Summit League victory over Omaha Jan. 15 in front of 1,728 fans at Frost Arena.
- The Jackrabbits, who scored 51 points in the first half, were led by Mariah Clarin with a game-high 22 points. Also scoring in double figures were: Chynna Stevens 14, Kerri Young 13, Megan Waytashek 12, Clarissa Ober 11 and Macy Miller 10.
- Waytashek led the way with six assists while Clarin and Miller each snared nine rebounds.
- South Dakota State last scored 101 points Feb. 27, 2012. The last time the Jackrabbits had six players score in double figures was against Utah Valley, Nov. 12, 2010. The Jacks tied a Frost Arena record with 39 field goals. They also grabbed a season-best 25 offensive rebounds.
- Remy Davenport led Omaha with 22 points.
- The Jackrabbits held a 22-20 lead after a three-point field goal by Omaha's Felicia Anderson with 9:22 left in the first half. Seven different players combined to lead South Dakota State on an 18-3 run. Rachel Walters capped the run with a three-point field goal for a 40-23 lead with 4:30 remaining.
- South Dakota State pushed the lead to 30 points, 73-43, on a basket by Young with 12:21 to play. The Jackrabbits cracked the 100-point mark when Tiffaney Flaata scored with 61 seconds remaining.
