MADISON, Wis.—The South Dakota State men's tennis team lost to Wisconsin, 7-0, Saturday night at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
"I thought we were a bit flat today compared to our first matches, but Wisconsin played tough. You could tell we were a bit mentally wore out, having four matches in a row where we were heavy underdogs," sixth-year head coach Michael Engdahl said. "Our guys handled it well and really proved to themselves they can hang with the best. Now, we need to keep to our focus as we go into the next phase in our schedule."
With the loss, the Jackrabbits fall to 0-4 while Wisconsin improved to 4-0.
SDSU lost the doubles point and all six singles matches. Freshman Emerson Styles came the closest to a win, but lost 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 singles to Osgar O'Hoisin.
The Jackrabbits continue their seven-match road swing when they play Doane College Feb. 13 in Lincoln, Neb.
