After spending the last half of December on the road, the South Dakota State women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Frost Arena for a three-game homestand. The Jackrabbits host Fort Wayne Thursday at 7 p.m.

SDSU is tied for fourth in the Summit League standings with records of 10-4 overall and 1-1 in league play. It is also ranked ninth in the latest College Insider Mid-Major poll.

The Jackrabbits lost their last Summit League game, falling 65-62 at South Dakota Dec. 31. Madison Guebert scored a team-high 21 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field, including five 3-pointers.

Fort Wayne enters the game on a two-game losing streak after losing 82-56 at Oral Roberts Dec. 31.

Thursday's game is the 29th meeting between the Jackrabbits and the Mastodons. State leads the all-time series, 27-1, has won the last 15 games in the series and is 10-1 in Frost Arena vs. the 'Dons.

Noteworthy

SDSU is 460-116 (.798) all-time in home games, including 69-7 (.907) in home Summit League games. It has won its last six home league games and is 38-2 in the last five seasons.
State has won 412 of its last 500 home encounters, good for a remarkable .824 winning percentage.
The Jackrabbits are 232-81 (.741) in all-time games since joining The Summit League in 2007-08.
The Jacks have won 39 of their last 47 in league games, dating to a 63-57 win over IUPUI Jan. 9, 2014.
Of its eight Summit League opponents in the last 10 years, SDSU has five losses to IUPUI, four to South Dakota, two to North Dakota State and one each to Denver, Fort Wayne and Western Illinois. The most losses have been to Oral Roberts (6).
SDSU head coach Aaron Johnston, who won his 400th game Dec. 11, enters Thursday's game with a 402-137 (.745) overall record and a 128-26 (.831) league mark.

Jackrabbits in Mid-Major Poll

After spending the first four weeks of the season atop the CollegeInsider Mid-Major poll, South Dakota State are ninth in Tuesday's poll.
SDSU has been ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25 Poll 91 of the last 92 weeks.
With its 26 first-place votes in the preseason poll, SDSU is the first team in The Summit League history to earn a top national preseason ranking.
The Jackrabbits were ranked first in the final 2015-16 poll, their highest-ever ranking.

A Quick Glance at South Dakota State

Seventeenth-year head coach Aaron Johnston's probable starters for the third consecutive game are:

            Alexis Alexander, point guard
            Madison Guebert, guard
            Kerri Young, guard
            Sydney Palmer, guard
            Ellie Thompson, forward

The starting lineup is 1-1 this season.
SDSU has had three different starting lineups after the Jackrabbits' leading scoring Macy Miller (Dec. 9) and leading rebounder Clarissa Ober (Dec. 22) suffered injuries that forced them from the starting five.
Miller remains SDSU's leading scorer, averaging 14.9 points per game. Miller was injured in the Green Bay game and is out for the season.
Guebert (14.6), Young (11.5) and Thompson (10.6) are the other Jacks averaging double digits in scoring.
SDSU averages 67.4 points per game. Four different Jackrabbits have led the team in scoring this season.
State has held 9 of its 14 opponents to 65-or-less points, including four to less than 50.
There have been at least three Jackrabbits scoring in double digits in 9 of 14 games.
On the boards, Ober was SDSU's leading rebounder, grabbing 7.5 caroms an outing. Thompson averages 6.0 caroms a game.
The Jackrabbits' top 3-point threat is Guebert, who is sinking 3.3 treys per game and shooting 44.3 percent.
Young is the Jacks' top playmaker, dishing 2.7 assists per game.
The Jacks have a plus-0.9 assist-to-turnover ratio.
SDSU is shooting 42.3 percent from the field, 32.5 percent from 3-point range and 70.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne is 1-4 in its last five games and has lost its last two road games after falling at Oral Roberts Dec. 31.
The Mastodons are 1-6 on the road with their lone win coming at UIC Dec. 10.
IPFW is led offensively by sophomore De'Jour Young. The guard is averaging 12.1 points per game. Fort Wayne averages 56.4 points per game.
Young averages a team-leading 4.6 rebounds. The 'Dons are being outrebounded by 2.3 caroms a game.
Young is also dishing 2.6 assists per game.
Young, freshman guard?Zaria Atkins and junior forward KeShyra McCarver are IPFW's top 3-point threats, sinking nine 3-pointers each.
Fort Wayne has eight players averaging 5-or-more points and nine averaging 10-or-more minutes per game.
The 'Dons are shooting 38.4 percent from the field, 27.9 percent from 3-point range and 78.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Breaking Down the Fort Wayne Series

Thursday's game marks the 29th meeting between SDSU and Fort Wayne.
The Jacks, who lead the series 27-1, won the first 12 games of the series and currently have a 15-game winning streak after defeating IPFW three times last season, including 80-60 March 5, 2016, in the first round of The Summit League Tournament.
The Mastodons' lone win was a 70-67 overtime victory Jan. 22, 2011, at Frost Arena.
SDSU holds the series lead in Summit League regular-season games, 22-1; is 5-0 in The Summit League Championship, and 10-1 in Frost Arena vs. the 'Dons.
IPFW has never scored more than 74 points in the series.
The Jacks are 1-1 in overtime games in the series. They beat the 'Dons 74-72 Feb. 4, 2008, and lost 70-67 Jan. 22, 2011.
