It's a short turnaround for the South Dakota State women's basketball team as it plays its first road game of the season Sunday at 1 p.m. at George Washington.

SDSU opened its 52nd season Friday night with its fifth consecutive season-opening win with a 92-48 victory over NJIT. Macy Miller led five Jackrabbits in double figures with a game-high 21 points.

George Washington lost its season opener, falling at Princeton, 72-52. The Colonials were led by Kelli Prange's 21 points.

Noteworthy

The Jackrabbits have won 11 of their last 12 home games dating to a 60-55 win over George Washington, Dec. 11, 2016.
SDSU's last road win was at Fort Wayne Feb. 18, 2017. Its last nonleague road victory was at Wichita State, Dec. 21, 2016.
South Dakota State received six votes in the USA Today Coaches preseason poll and is ranked fifth in the CollegeInsider Mid-Major poll.
Sunday's game is the third meeting between South Dakota State and George Washington. The Jacks beat the Colonials in a come-from-behind game in last year in Frost Arena, 60-55. State is 0-1 on the road vs. George Washington.
SDSU is 1-1 against teams from the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Jackrabbits in Mid-Major Poll

South Dakota State is ranked fifth in the CollegeInsider Mid-Major poll going into the season opener.
The Jackrabbits, who were picked No. 1 in last year's preseason poll, finished 15th at the end of the 2016-17 season.

Eighteenth-year head coach Aaron Johnston's probable starters for the George Washington game are:

Junior guard Mei-Lyn Bautista is dishing 4.0 assists per game.

George Washington Series

Sunday's game marks the third meeting between South Dakota State and George Washington, and the series is tied 1-1.
In last year's game, Kerri Young and Ellie Thompson led four Jackrabbits in double-figure scoring in a 60-55, win Dec. 11 in Frost Arena.
The series first meeting Nov. 23, 2007, in Washington D.C., had the Jacks losing to the Colonials, 65-60 in the first game of the George Washington Thanksgiving Tournament. Kristin Rotert came off the bench to led four Jackrabbits in double figures with 15 points, including five 3-pointers.
GW is the only Atlantic 10 Conference member SDSU has played. The Jacks and the Colonials were in the Spokane Region in Corvallis, Oregon, in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
