After opening the season 3-1, the South Dakota State women's basketball team travels south for Thanksgiving for the Puerto Rico Clasico in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Friday and Saturday at Cardinal Gibbons Arena.

The Jackrabbits open the Clasico Friday at 1:30 p.m. vs. No. 23 NC State and plays Charlotte Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

SDSU fell short in its last game, losing 55-41 at Green Bay Nov. 18. Summit League Player of the Year candidate Macy Miller led the Jackrabbits with 11 points.

NC State enters the weekend undefeated at 5-0 after defeating Old Dominion in Virginia Monday night, 73-56.

Charlotte snapped a two-game losing streak with a 51-47 road win at UNC Asheville Nov. 18.

It will be the first meeting between the Jackrabbits, the Wolfpack and the 49ers.

Noteworthy

SDSU is 4-4 since 2004-05 when playing on Thanksgiving week in six tournaments.
The Jacks are making their seventh trip south since 2004-05 to play in a nonleague tournament.
SDSU is 18-12 in regular-season tournaments. The last tournament it played in was the Hawkeye Challenge at Iowa last year. It defeated Montana (84-43) and upset Iowa (66-64). The Jacks won the UNLV Lady Rebel Round-Up in Las Vegas in 2014-15 with victories over Northern Illinois (55-42) and UNLV (65-59).
Macy Miller scored 20-or-more points in the first two games of the season. She averages 17.3 points per game going into the weekend.
The Jackrabbits will be challenged in the post against NC State. The Wolfpack has outscored its opponents in the paint by a 178-76 margin. They also are third in the country in blocks with 28 rejections. State is 13th with 22.
Charlotte is second in the country in free throws, making 84 of 116. The Jacks are 29th, sinking 56 of 73.

Jackrabbits in Mid-Major Poll

South Dakota State is ranked fifth in the Nov. 14 CollegeInsider Mid-Major poll.
SDSU has been ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25 Poll 102 of the last 103 weeks.
The Jackrabbits, who were picked No. 1 in last year's preseason poll, finished 15th at the end of the 2016-17 season.

Wolfpack senior forward Chelsea Nelson leads NC State in scoring (14.8). Senior center Akela Maize (11.6), junior guard Kiara Leslie (11.0) and sophomore guard Lucky Rudd (11.0) are the others scoring in double digits.
Sophomore guard Kaila Ealey tops the team with 7.4 rebounds. NC State is outrebounding opponents by 14.2 caroms a game.
Rudd is the Wolfpack's top 3-point threat, sinking 42.3 percent of her threes (11-26). NC State averages 6.2 treys per game.
Ealey is dishing 5.2 assists per game.
The Wolfpack has four players averaging 8.0-or-more points and eight averaging 10-or-more minutes per game.
NC State is shooting 45.9 percent from the field, 27.9 percent from 3-point range and 53.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Charlotte senior guard Amaya Ransom leads the team in scoring (14.0). Freshman guard Octavia Wilson (13.5) and junior guard Laia Roventos (12.3) are the others scoring in double digits.
Sophomore forward Dara Pearson tops the team with 7.5 rebounds. Charlotte is being outrebounded by 2.0 caroms a game.
Ransom is the 49ers' top 3-point threat, sinking 27.3 percent of her threes (6-22). Charlotte averages 3.0 treys per game.
Roventos is dishing 2.7 assists per game.
The 49ers have four players averaging 8.0-or-more points and eight averaging 10-or-more minutes per game.
Charlotte is shooting 36.2 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from 3-point range and 72.4 percent from the free-throw line.
The 49ers are being outscored by 7.5 points per game and averaging 61.5 points an outing while giving up just 69.0 points per game.

Saturday's game marks the first meeting between South Dakota State and Charlotte.
The 49ers are the first Conference USA team the Jackrabbits will face since losing at UTEP, 66-63, in the semifinals of the WNIT April 2, 2014.
SDSU is 6-7 vs. teams from Conference USA and Saturday's game is its second consecutive game against a team from the Tar Heel State.
