The South Dakota State women's basketball team ends 2017 on the road in a mid-major showdown Friday in Fort Myers, Fla., when it plays Florida Gulf Coast at 6:30 p.m.

The Jackrabbits enter the game ranked second in the CollegeInsider Mid-Major poll after improving to 10-3 Dec. 20 with a 96-64 win over Wichita State.
Macy Miller scored a game-high 22 points to lead four players in double figures in scoring.

The Eagles are third in the mid-major poll. They won both games in the FGCU Hilton Garden Inn Classic Dec. 20-21 and are 12-3 on the season.

- South Dakota State makes its second trip to the Sunshine State Friday. The Jackrabbits are 2-0 in Florida after upsetting -/No. 23 N.C. State and defeating Charlotte in the Puerto Rico Clasico in Ft. Lauderdale Nov. 24-25.
- While most teams conclude their nonconference season before January 1, the Jacks host Dakota Wesleyan Jan. 16. Both the FGCU and DW games replace games with IUPUI, which left The Summit League prior to the season.
- The Jackrabbits face a Florida Gulf Coast team which defeated two ranked teams. The Eagles have a high-octane offense that leads the NCAA in 3-point shooting and an aggressive defense.

- FGCU has a 6-0 record in Alico Arena after hosting the FGCU Hilton Garden Inn Classic Dec. 20-21. It defeated Harvard, 65-56, and SIU Edwardsville, 66-49.
- The Eagles are led offensively by senior Rosemarie Julien. The forward is averaging 13.0 points per game. Sophomore guard Nasrin Ulel and senior guard Taylor Gradinjan are averaging 10.9 and 10.4 points per game, respectively.
- Florida Gulf Coast averages 76.3 points per game and gives up 62.9. It has limited 11 of its 15 opponents to less than 65 points per game.
- Sophomore forward Tytionia Adderly averages a team-leading 8.3 rebounds. The Eagles are being outrebounded by 0.9 caroms a game.

Megan Waytashek led the Jackrabbits with 13 points. Chynna Stevens, a freshman on that team, scored three points and grabbed a rebound in five minutes of action.
- The Jackrabbits are 5-1 against current Atlantic Sun Conference members. SDSU defeated NJIT in the season opener Nov. 10, 92-48.
