South Dakota State and Texas Christian ended their equestrian head-to-head competition tied at 7-all Thursday afternoon at the DeHaan Equestrian Center, but the Jackrabbits claimed the tiebreaker with a 1,205-1,169.5 advantage in raw score.

The Jackrabbits built their scoring advantage on the strength of a strong opening round in fences. Cali Karbler tallied a winning score of 75 on Betty and Margaret Franke added a point after an 86-point ride on Dezi.

Overall, SDSU posted a 317-286 advantage in fences scoring despite splitting the four matches. Julia Werkhoven also posted an 86 in her matchup with Raegan Rast of TCU, but Rast came away with Most Outstanding Performer honors with an 88.
"This win is huge for us," SDSU jumping seat coach Jessica Andronowitz said. "The girls have been putting in very strong rides all season with close finishes against top schools. Today's win was a culmination of a lot of hard work and preparation and we look forward to bringing this energy with us on the road to Delaware State next month."

The Horned Frogs gained a 4-3 advantage by winning two of the three points awarded in horsemanship. Shelby Cochran salvaged the final point for SDSU with a winning score of 72.5 on Marshal en route to earning MOP honors in the event. Grace Blake tied with TCU's Mattie Dukes with a score of 74.5 on Marley.

The Jackrabbits drew even by claiming two of the three points awarded in flat. Werkhoven came through with a 72-70.5 win over Isabella Baxter on Enrique, while Rachel Head picked up the other SDSU victory with a score of 75.5 on Mia. Franke remained unbeaten in jumping seat competitions this season by tying with TCU's Jacey Albaugh with a score of 75 on Dancin.

In the final event of the afternoon, TCU posted victories in the first two reining matchups before Lydia Loken (73.5) and Natalie Gydesen (76.5) came through with wins for the Jackrabbits to put the tiebreaker in effect.

SDSU held a raw-score advantage in three of the four events. TCU's lone advantage came in horsemanship, 296.5-294.5.

Later in the day, the Jackrabbits began competition against Minnesota Crookston, sweeping the horsemanship event. Callyn Fox (76), Cochran (75), Kodi O'Boyle (72.5) and Blake (69) recorded the SDSU victories.
