BOULDER CITY, Nev. - South Dakota State men's golf sits in third place after the first day of the 2021 Jackrabbit Invitational Friday at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
The Jackrabbitss finished the first round of the nine team event with a score of 289, but improved their total in the second round by five strokes with a score of 291 to finish day one at 587.
Individually, three Jacks, two of which are competing as individuals, sit in the top 16 with Matthew Schaefer (individual) leading the way. The junior is tied for second with a score of 136 (-8) while Will Frazier and Noah Boraas (individual) are tied for ninth with scores of 143 (-1). Liam Georgiadis is even par through two rounds with a score of 144.Â
Also playing as an individual, James Temple sits at 145 (+1) after scoring even par (72) in the second round. Jack Tanner is tied for 20th with a score of 146 (+2) while Sam Batta rounds out the independent Jackrabbit golfers, scoring 154 (+10). Lucas Schaefbauer is tied for 48th and has an overall score of 157 (+13) and Harry Dugan is tied for 54th after finishing with a score of 161 (+17) through the first two rounds.
UNLV leads the tournament with a score of 561 (-15), 13 strokes ahead of second place Southern Utah, who scored 574 (-2) on the first day of play.Â
Individually, Southern Utah's Jake Vincent is in first place with a score of 134 (-10).
