Kristin Rotert, who has served as the women's basketball director of operations for the past three seasons, has stepped down to accept the head coaching position at Northwestern College in Iowa.
Â
Since joining the SDSU coaching staff in July 2018, the Jackrabbits have made two NCAA tournament appearances, including a historic run to the Sweet 16 during the 2018-19 season. State also captured two Summit League regular-season titles and compiled a record of 72-21. Additionally, Rotert was responsible for coordinating team travel, planning and organizing summer camps, assisting with on-campus recruiting, supervising student assistants and assisting with opponent scouting.
Â
Rotert lettered for the Jackrabbits from 2008-11 and finished her career tied for the all-time lead in three-pointers made (250 – since broken) and eighth in scoring (1,484 points). The Salem native was honored as the Summit League Sixth Woman of the Year during her freshman season and was a second-team all-league selection as a senior. She was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 Summit League Basketball Championship as the Jackrabbits reached the NCAA Tournament for the third time.
Â
Since graduating from SDSU in 2011 with a bachelor of science degree in health promotion, Rotert stayed active in basketball by working as an instructor with Warwick Workouts in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen-based Eyes Up Sports, as well as coaching the South Dakota Attack U17 AAU team from 2014-17. She also has served as a personal trainer, youth mentoring director and teacher.
Â
At Northwestern College, Rotert takes over for Chris Yaw, who stepped down in March after 10 seasons of leading the Raiders.
