SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - South Dakota State golf wrapped up the first round and and nearly all of the second at the Desert Mountain Collegiate hosted by Michigan Saturday. The Jackrabbits were in 11th place after the first 18 holes with Jack Tanner in 10th place to lead the team.
Round two was suspended due to darkness and will be completed Sunday, followed by the final 18 holes.
Tanner posted a 70 (-2) score for the opening round, tying him with six other players for tenth.
Matthew Schaefer is just behind Tanner, carding a 71 (-1) on his first trip through the course. Jonah Dohrer and Liam Georgiadis turned in matching 76 (+4) scores and Ty Kretz rounded out the SDSU lineup with a 79 (+7).
Schaefer played all but one hole of round two and was +4 on the round before it was suspended. Georgiadis also has one hole remaining and is +8, Jonah Dohrer is +8 with two holes to play, Kretz is +11 with three more holes and Tanner is +15 through the full second round.
The Jackrabbits will return to the course to finish the second round and play the final round Sunday morning. Play is set to resume at 7:40 a.m.
